SAMR MODEL






SARM is a model designed to help educators to incorporate technology into the teaching and learning. This tool help us to enables to design, develop, and infuse digital learning experience that utilize technology. I think that I will work more on that so that my students get advantange in technology. The SARM model transform learning in a higher levels of achievements. I believe that teachers need to both create task that target the higher order cognitive as well as disgn task that have a significant impact on student´s outcomes. It is very important to make sure that we apply and if technology is being used a:

 Substitution

 Argumentation


Modfication


Redefinition


But why all this? Each one of them has a gret importance in the teaching area. For example what I got from all this is the following:


Substitution: in this tool, tech act as a direct tool substitute, with no functional change. And I can ask myself what would be my advantage by replacing the task with new tech?. Maybe this is a question that many teachers have, but it has many advantages since technology is everytime innovating. If we replace power point for google slide, it is still technology but we are replacing the tools. In this case there is advantage because google slide allows you to do many other things that you cannot do with power point like for exmaple chat with others in real time. This advange allows us to be more connected with the technology.


Argumentation: I think it is important too because at this level technology is used as a direct substitude tool in a lesson like the substitution level. But according to my conception what makes this level different is that it provides functional improvement to the lesson. Students are completeting the same task as before, however there is added functionality to the activiity. I can give some examples of using this level, they are: editing tools while taking notes or completing a worksheet using technology, using a template to guide a task, using an online map to measure distance between to locations, using online guides to suplement reading.


I think that in orden to identify if one of your current lesson uses the argumentation level, we have to ask ourselves this question: am I able to identify an improvement to the lesson from the uses of technology? If our answer is Yes, the we can think that we are at the argumentation level.


To conclude substitution and argumentationare actually aat the lowest level of technology integration. Those are really enhancing a lesson, where technology really takes advange is at the modification and redefinition level. We can be integrating technology in our clasroom but when we look at our students, we can see that they are actually doing the same thing, there is no change in them, but we have to focus more in the modification and redefinition level. It is here when we think about modification, when we modify a lesson with technology, the technology redisgn the task significantly.


In the substitution and argumentation the students can really do the activity without technology but we get to the level of modification and redefinition, they cannot do the activity without technology.
